Discipline Code and Letters for Families

In accordance with the DOE Framework for Great Schools, schools must be culturally-responsive spaces where students feel safe to be themselves and develop confidence. To help provide students with a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment, the Chancellor’s Citywide Behavioral Expectations to Support Student Learning (including the Discipline Code), outlines the guidelines and expectations for student behavior in school. The discipline codes for grades K–5 and 6–12, for the 2019–20 school year, remain in effect for the 2021–22 school year and apply to all students.

Visit the website Discipline Code Resources InfoHub page for more information. The family letter is also attached below. Your child will soon receive Discipline Code Behavioral Contracts for Students and Parents. We urge you to review this contract with your child, sign and have your child return the signed contract to the school.

Our school staff will also  provide resources and an overview to our students on the discipline code, as well as how we can best support one another as a learning community.

Parents we want all our school community, students and families to feel safe and supported daily at IS 349. If there is ever a concern, issue, worry or question regarding your child we urge you to notify the us at the school immediately. We are all here to assist. Thank you.
