Language Access

Parents have the right to receive information or communicate with a staff member at their school or Department of Education (DOE) office in their language.

At I.S. 349, we want to ensure our families and visitors feel welcomed and assisted in their home language. Translations and Interpretation services are available for our families in languages other than English and Spanish. If interpretation services are needed for a school meeting, workshop or event, please inform us, at least two weeks prior to the event to make arrangements.

Chancellors Regulation A-663- Establishes the procedures for ensuring that Limited English Speaking parents are provided with a meaningful opportunity to participate in and have access to programs and services critical to their child’s education.

Home Language Identification Survey- In order to provide your child with the best education possible and to keep parents informed in their language preference, our school would complete a home language identification Survey for all our families.

Language Access Parent Survey- Parents complete this fillable survey below, so that you can help us identify where we need to improve when it comes to communicating with you in your preferred language.
